Gear: Shimoda Action X30 Backpack with Small Core Unit
The Shimoda Action X30 Backpack is designed for aggressive photographers looking for an efficient, fast access and compact backcountry camera bag. It’s built for foul weather and ever-changing environments.
This low-profile pack will comfortably fit most mirrorless and DSLR cameras (up to a Canon 5D) via the Mirrorless Core Units. Its roll-top access allows users to expand or compress the volume to the demands of the day. A lower-level TPU compression strap ensures greater durability when attaching skis, and its removable helmet strap lets users secure mountaineering, ski or bike helmets to the outside of their pack. The Shimoda Action X30 Backpack with the small Core unit was not able to fit my Nikon Z 70-200mm Lens / Nikon MC 105 Lens and Nikon Z7 II Camera with accessories, so I upgraded to the Large Core Unt. Now all fits just fine. The only downside to the larger Core unit is the upper compartment is smaller now, but still large enough to hold a flash kit and more accessories, plus a lunch.

Pros: Fits well, and is comfortable for wearing all day. No rain cover is needed, already water resistant and the pack material is thick and tough against scratches and abrasions. Lots of expansion pockets. Side pockets are hidden until needed and are able to carry a tripod or 32 oz water bottle on either side. An added bonus is when you take your pack off and set it down it stands straight up without falling over. The back panel has a padded compartment for a 15" laptop.
Cons: No hip belt pockets, If you use a water bladder, make sure it's one that has a fairly long water tube, the one I normally use is 4 inches too short.
I Love this pack, got one for Christmas and it has already proven its worth in all the damn rain.
